Baby show at SRF

YINGKIONG, Dec 8: Upper Siang District Health Society conducted a ‘Baby Show’ during Siang River Festival today wherein 29 infants aged between 6 months to 1 year have participated. The first three best (healthy) babies selected by a panel of judges were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7000 and Rs. 5000 respectively.

Motto of the show was to promote regular anti-natal checkup, institutional delivery and full immunization. DIPRO

 

Fulfill demands of AASSATA: APSSACEA

ITANAGAR, Dec 08: Arunachal Pradesh Sarva Shiksah Abhiyan Contractual Employee’s Association today appealed to the state Govt to consider the demand of the SSA teachers for regularization of  remaining  2003 batch teachers at one go.

Expressing concern over the warning of the Govt to impose “No work no pay’ policy, the Association  said instead of threatening the  teachers, the state Govt  should initiate dialogue and fulfill the genuine demand of the AASSATA.  While referring to the pen-downs strike of the SSA teachers, the Association said Govt should find out amicable solution to the present imbroglio   for the sake of academic career of the students.

 

EAPWO writes to CM

ITANAGAR, Dec 08:  In a representation to the chief minister today Eastern Arunachal People’ Welfare Organization (EAPWO) demanded for the shifting of head of department offices from Itanagar which meant for eastern zone somewhere in eastern Arunachal for easy access  and administrative convenience. Further the organization requested the government for the decentralization of financial allotment to for the developmental projects and pleaded for equal share of grant-in-aid to the eastern region of the state.

EAPWO also demanded for infrastructural upgradation in the belt and posting of divisional commissioner.

 

Demwe Power project affected people demand compensation

ITANAGAR, Dec 08: The Anjaw area project affected families (PAF) of 1750 mw Lower Demwe Power project in a letter to Vice President of Athena Demwe Power Project Ltd, Tezu demanded immediate release of compensation amount.

The PAF said that the company has taken the land under land acquisition process and the company has already paid the compensation to inhabitants of Lohit district. But the payment against Anjaw district has been kept pending due to which the beneficiaries are facing mental harassment.

This step-motherly treatment to the beneficiaries of Anjaw district regarding compensation amount by the company is very unfortunate as the 75 per cent of the compensation amount is still lying pending for payment in respect of PAF despite fulfillment of all the mandatory procedures as per the land acquisition act. The PAF threatened that the project affected family would launch agitation against the company and oppose the project if the company fails to release the compensation amount to PAF within this month.

 

Death of student leader mourned

ITANAGAR, Dec 8: Former deputy speaker of the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) and one of the contesting candidates for the post of general secretary in 24th AAPSU election, Tale Dasi breathed his last at Daporijo yesterday morning. He has left behind his wife and a son.  Late Dasi had reportedly received serious injuries in a road accident at Narayanpur (Assam) on his way from Shillong to Doimukh to participate a platform speech regarding AAPSU election during the last week of October. Though he was rushed to a Delhi based hospital for treatment doctors attending on him gave up all hopes and he was brought back to Daporijo recently.

Meanwhile, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union has expressed deep shock at the demise of Tale Dasi. In a condolence message, AAPSU outgoing president Takam Tatung said, “We have lost a brother, friend in Tale Dasi, who was a dedicated and hardworking son of the soil. It is a great loss for the society and his camaraderie will always be remembered.” While conveying its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, AAPSU also prayed to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul. AAPSU has appealed the state Govt to grant ex-gratia and provide a Govt job to a family member of late Dasi.

4th Nyshi Idol begins

‘Music a powerful tool to awaken society’

ITANAGAR, Dec 08: The  4th Nyishi Idol organized by Nyishi Art and Culture Welfare Society with the motto of providing platform to young artistes of Nyishi Community to exhibit and show their talent was formally inaugurated at Siddhartha Hall here today evening.

Speaking on the occasion, renowned Nyishi singer Bengia Hemanto appealed to the singers of the community to awaken the society through music instead of going for making money only. Music is such a powerful tool through which we can spread message and communicate with masses in ways that no other medium can, he said. Describing career options in music and singing, Hemanto, also member of Sangeet Natak Academy, New Delhi encouraged the young artistes to take up music sincerely through which one can earn livelihood and live a dignified life.

Bengia enthralled the audience with his melodious songs.

A total of 17 upcoming singers from Papum Pare, Kurung Kumey, Lower Subansiri, East Kameng and Charduar under Sonitpur district in Assam are participating in the singing talent hunt.

The first prize carries Rs. one lakh along with a laptop sponsored by MLA Techi Kaso while the second and third prizes carry Rs.50,000  and Rs.30,000 respectively along with laptops. The sponsors of second and third prizes are former Kimin ASM chairperson Tai Tayu and former MP Kiren Rijiju. Two consolation prizes of Rs.10,000 are sponsored by ANYA president Bamang Taji. The first elimination round would be held on December 12, informed organizing chairman Techi Lombu.

The inaugural function was also attended by Taw Tebin, Director, Social Empowerment and Justice, Bengia Tabb, senior artiste, Bengia Tada, ANSU Information and Publicity Secretary and Tana Jiri, among others.

Arunachal to celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda in grand manner

ITANAGAR, Dec 08: Along with the rest of the world, Arunachal Pradesh is going to celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda with the theme “Wake Up Bharat ! Enlighten The World” from January 12, 2013 to January 12, 2014.

A State-level celebration organizing committee has already been formed with a renowned social worker Nabam Atum as its president. Other members of the committee include joint director of Higher and Technical Education J Padu, Rinchen Dorjee,(Prant Sanyojak), Adv. Pritam Taffo, (organizing secretary), Leki Phuntso (Publicity secretary) and Dr V. N. Sharma, State Liaison Officer, NSS, director of higher and technical education, (Assistant publicity secretary).

Briefing the media persons about the hectic preparation for the year long celebration, Taffo through a powerPoint presentation  informed that  45  district and block level Ayahojan Samities (organizing committees) have been formed in Arunachal Pradesh to celebrate the birth anniversary of Swamiji in a grand manner.

The  celebration aims at spreading the message of Swami Vivekananda to all the section of our society. “Swamiji was a revolutionary thinker who triggered the renaissance of the Indian nationalism. He emphasized on the awaking of the masses without any hurting the faith and belief system.

With the view of promoting social harmony the committee has  targeted mainly five segments (panchamukhi)  of the society, namely i) Yuva Shakti,  ii) Prabuddh Bharat, iii) Gramayan, iv) Samvardhini and v) Asmita during its year long celebration.

Nabam Atum, state organizing committee president appealed all section of the people of the state to join the celebration irrespective of their caste, creed and religious belief.

Addressing  the mediapersons, Prant Pramukh of Vivekananda Kendra Arunachal Pradesh Dr Joram Begi, also the director of Higher  and  Technical  education hoped that the celebration will provide ample opportunity for the youth of the state to  motivate themselves in right direction.

“While Arunachal Pradesh is passing through a transitional period, its youth force is not properly guided or motivated,” Begi, who is also national level celebration committee member said and adding ‘celebration is a great opportunity for us to take care of our youth.” Dr J Padu, Leki Phuntso, R Dorjee and V N Sharma also spoke on the occasion. All of them appealed to  the people of the state and media in particular to  play pivotal role in spreading the message and teachings of Swami Vivekananda in order to the wake up Bharat  to ever new heights.

 

 

ARSU decries rampant deforestation in Dazzelling area

ITANAGAR, Dec 08: The All Hrusso (Aka) Students’ Union (ARSU) expressed grave over ruthless deforestation activity in Dazzelling area with dual motives of occupying land as well as exploit forest resources by some unscrupulous people and demanded the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Khellong Division to check the illegal activity immediately.

A team of the students union, which recently visited the area, claimed that rampant tree felling were going on in the area affecting the ecosystem which has posed a big threat to survival of many wild species and caused soil erosion.  The team also claims to have witnessed 3- 4 bunkers sites for making charcoal.

The union demanded the authority concerned to check the illegal activity by engaging regular patrolling. It also demanded appropriate action under Forest Act against those involved in the illegal activity failing which it threatened to launch movement.

 

 

MLA concerned at deteriorating law and order in Daporijo

DAPORIJO, Dec 08:  “Once the place was known as ‘Dao Rijo’ and people were scared of dao. Now the alleged illegal possession and use of lethal weapons (pistols) by some miscreants in the township and threatening of the businessmen and commuters by them has become matter of serious concern,” said local MLA Tapen Siga in an emergency meeting convened at Singik Hall here yesterday following receipt of several complaints of threat, extortion and assaults from various quarters.

Expressing grave over the reported law and order situation, the MLA requested the Deputy Commissioner to check all anti-social and unlawful activities in Daporijo with proper coordination with police.

In the meeting, many businessmen and other local people have narrated their bitter experiences of threat, assault, extortion and misbehavior by some anti-social elements in the town for the last few couple of months.

More often than not, the shopkeepers and traders from out side the state fall victims of such extortion and threats. They say, some youths, who come in group, demand money and other materials and then threaten them of dire consequence, if they fail to comply with their demands.

BRO members also attended the meeting, who claimed that they are facing lots of problem from the miscreants in carrying out their works.

“Very recently, few members of BRO were brutally beaten by some miscreants without any provocation while they were returning to their camp after duty. The culprits involved in the incident have not yet been booked,” they said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Tahang Taggu said that the district administration is trying its level best to check anti-social activity and make Daporijo crime free zone. He appealed to all to help and extend cooperation to the district administration in maintaining law and order. The meeting was attended by all head of departments, panchayat leaders, NGOs, representatives from various student unions and local public.

The recent JNV attack case followed by series of alleged attack on commuters and other businessmen with lethal weapons at open market area simply reflected the growing crime rate at Daporijo. Who is to blame for it?

 

 

Scholarship for Arunachalee students

ITANAGAR, Dec 08: In an endeavour to encourage the students of the state the Heema Hospital and Research Centre, Itanagar along with Smt Sharada Education Trust (SSET) has decided to provide scholarship to 10 Arunachalee students on merit basis, informed Chief Managing Director, Heema Hospital Dr Byabang Rana this evening.

He said that it had started the programme under the banner of Pliris Consulting Service near Heema Hospital last year and received good response from the students and parents. The organization has decided to provide tuition fee of 10 meritorious students directly of the college associated with the Trust.

Meanwhile, SSET founder Vijay Pandey briefing about the activities of SSET said Pliris Consulting Services provides a total Career Counseling and admission guidance to students.

The objective of the scholarship programme is to promote academic excellence and evolve a group of young professionals and leaders of higher caliber imbued with values of entrepreneurship and ethics.

The Trust awards the tuition fee to Arunachalee students with a consistently good academic record and who has successfully cleared the examination conducted by the Trust. The amount of scholarship is decided as per the assessment of the Trust.

He further said scholarships are offered for undergraduate studies at prestigious institutions in India, in the field of engineering, BBM, BCA, B Com etc at Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

The 10+2 students from any Board with minimum 50  per cent marks who is planning to pursue undergraduate studies  can apply for scholarship. However, the short listed candidate will be required to attend the screening examination for allotment of scholarship and institution respectively.
